Lets Use Up That Patterned Paper Stash!

If you are anything like me you have a ton of patterned paper. What makes it worse for me is that I used to scrapbook so I have tons of 12x12 patterned paper and even though I havent made a proper scrapbook page in like 3 years I keep buying the paper! Whats wrong with me? Its a disease. Well a few days ago I decided to start making a dent in that paper. I also decided I needed to come up with some easy to make cards for a little card class I am hosting. Here's what I came up with. Fun, summery cards with matching lined envies. Now the bad news (or good news) is I managed to make 8 cards and 8 matching envies and I only used 3 sheets of pp! And I still had plenty left over for more! Ack! On the other hand I am really pleased with the cards. I would love to tell you where I got the pp but its all from my stash and much of it is really old! The base is a half sheet of hawaiian shores cardstock. I then cut the pp into strips 3.75 tall and 1.5 wide. I laid them side by side, overlapping just a bit. I covered the top with some cute raspberry fizz rick rack (cut with my PTI rick rack die) and then added a sentiment/focal point using fillable frame 5 and die. The flipflops are from PTI day at the beach.
Here's another, same basic process, different colors. Dont you love the lined envies? Its the PTI envie die folks... oh how I love it!!! On this card the sentiment is also from PTI day at the beach.
Thanks for coming by! Now go use those scraps!

Oohhh, these cards are so summery and fun!! Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration! I am on the fence with the envelope die, do you know if it works on any A2 envelope, even if they're (gasp!) not from PTI!? Thanks!

These are really cute, Michele! I have tons of scraps too and they are well organized, but I almost never reach for them. Love that you made the matching envelopes - that die is on my list for CHA!

Erin, the die will work if you have a square flap... not if its pointy.

Michele, I really LOVE these cards, both for the idea of using up patterned paper but also the design is just beautiful! I'm definitely going to try this design!!

Oh thanks so much for providing the measurements for the strips. Now I don't even have to think to case your layout and try to get rid of my DP. But only 3 sheets, huh?

Love your bright colors. I'm going to go dig through my DP.

That is a great idea!!! I was/am a scrapbooker as well. I haven't scrapped in some time, but I have quite a bit of 12 by 12 paper too! Love the cards and its a great way to use up the paper even if it takes you a while!
