The entire reason I created this was so I could comment on the blogs of others...but every now and then I find something to say.IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.comBlogger1084125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-68214379392608650232018-07-01T14:03:00.000-07:002018-07-01T14:31:02.450-07:00I’m Still Alive!

Well what do you know? I can still make stuff on occasion. I've been keeping myself busy teaching school and reading books. I haven't really made any time for art over the last year or two except for the card making club that I run at the school. However, I've got a fully stocked craftroom and I was finally running out of cards! This card uses stamps from lawn fawn (lady bugs) and altenew (sentiment). A little copic coloring and a lot of black ink. Happy summer friends!IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-13435065802121102592015-11-22T14:34:00.001-08:002015-11-22T14:34:55.646-08:00Falling LeavesHello!Long time no write! Once again school has started and teaching English takes all of my time. So many things to do, so many papers to grade. Since the start of the school year I've made like 10 cards. Sad but true. This card uses a set from Simon Says Stamp (Leaves and Scribbles?) and some PTI paper and ink. The leaves are die cut and also brushed with gold perfect pearls... sparkly in real life- not so much on the computer screen. Thanks for stopping by!
Begging for Money on Behalf of My StudentsHi Friends! I interrupt this blog to ask you to consider to giving to my classroom via Donor's Choose. I am once again asking for books for my classroom. I have my students read 5 novels per term for a total of 20 novels per year. They don't always make it but even if they only do half they will read 10 books in a school year! This is in addition to our 4 class novels. Some of my students come from homes completely devoid of books. Some of them hate reading. Some have never read a novel by themselves. Its my job to try to change that. I look for books that will interest them. I talk up new books. I try to tailor book choices to their interests. I will spend tons of my own money on books this year, as I did last year. Will you help? Even if you can't donate, can you help spread the word? Also if you donate in the next 6 days you can put in the promo word SPARK and Donors choose will match your donation! So $5 becomes $10! Here's the link:
I came into some Lawn Fawn stamps the other day, aren't they the cutest? I love that little snail. Although I admit the scientist in me is screaming that snails eyes are on those antennae! Of course, eyes up there are not nearly as cute. Google snail eyes, you'll see what I mean.
Anyhow this card uses PTI cardstock, pti sentiment and Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens. It is colored with copic markers. Simple and easy!

I have something new for you today. I am still using the zig markers. I am starting to enjoy them a bit more now that I have a better feel for how they work. I decided I like them best on watercolor paper and I really like using them with pencil drawings. The card below uses the 12 pack Zig on watercolor paper. I used both a waterbrush pen and a regular paint brush. The panel is mounted on PTI Kraft with scrap patterned paper (no clue of maker), and some maya road twine.

The second card is basically the same thing. The pink paper is from PTI. Everything is else is the same as mentioned above. Thanks for stopping in!

Hello Friends! I am back! Still working with those zig markers. I do have to say they are growing on me. Here is today's offering. This is a hand drawn creation. I drew it with mechanical pencil and then watercolored with the zigs and a waterbrush and a regular brush on watercolor paper. I only have the 12 marker set so I think you can see here you can really get a lot of different colors out of that 12 set.IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-29949731297642270192015-06-20T19:22:00.000-07:002015-06-21T19:05:12.793-07:00Zig Clean Color Brush Markers
Hello Friends! Wow its been awhile, hasn't it?! It's finally summer! My first year as a middle school teacher (after 17 years in Elementary) was so hard! It was such a hectic, hard, and rewarding year. I barely crafted at all! I feel so out of practice right now!
I was chatting with my crafty friends and I heard about Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. Well of course I couldn't ignore the siren call of new supplies. I clicked on over to my trusty friend Amazon and bought some. Of course then I needed a water brush, some bristol board, and some watercolor paper. Next I watched a few You Tube videos where I was assured that this was the easiest thing evah!!! I am calling BS on that. And I know how to watercolor, like actually paint paintings, with real watercolor. I've taken some pictures of work in process so you can see a few different things. The finished card above was done on watercolor paper as were the baskets in the picture below. If you are using watercolor paper the colors blend more effortlessly but if you get things too wet you will find your colors bleeding all over the place.

The picture below is the pens used on PTI cardstock with a tiny bit of water applied with a brush. You can see that on this thick cardstock the colors do not blend as easily. Also too much water will shred the cardstock.

The picture below shows the pens on Bristol paper. Its smooth like cardstock but not as thick. The colors blend very easily especially without water. However, the paper will also stand some water to be used with blending.

This final picture is hand drawn art (Please forgive my horrid lettering!) on PTI white. I used the pens and a bit of water. I am really sorry I didn't just stick to copics here but I thought you might like to see one more example.
Hello Friends! I've been making cards all weekend. I feel a little rusty but its so great to get creative. I picked up this wine set from PTI a month or two ago and today was the first chance I had to use it. Lining up those die cuts was a breeze with my MISTI. I had lots of fun with the fancy flourishes as well. This card is already in an envelope... hopefully I will remember to post it tomorrow! Hope you have a great week!IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-14420656314703266962015-02-21T11:40:00.001-08:002015-02-21T11:40:55.162-08:00Another MISTI fanHi Friends! Guess what I did? I jumped on the MISTI bandwagon! And I am so glad I did. My MISTI arrived last week and I was smitten after the first stamp. I used it to create the card below.

I used two PTI sets- Natural Beauties and Fancy Flourishes. The best thing about the MISTI is it lets you easily double or triple stamp the same image. See how crisp that sentiment is? I triple stamped it- easily and with no blurring or mis stamps! MISTI is totally worth the money.

Hello friends! I am enjoying my day off. Got in a little crafty time in between writing lesson plans and correcting essays. I do apologize for not editing the picture- time is of the essence around here.

Today's PTI anniversary challenge was to "spring into action and use a set that hadn't see ink". I have the pretty petals free gift set from December. It was still all wrapped up so I broke it open and inked it up. I used berry sorbet, harvest gold and spring moss ink. The lighter pink is just berry sorbet stamped off.

IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-45068122598621344132015-02-08T17:47:00.002-08:002015-02-08T17:47:51.948-08:00PTI Anniversary Challenge

Hello Friends! It's been a good long while. I offer no excuses except to say my creative times are few and far between and teaching 7th grade is a 50 hour a week job. Anyhow, its anniversary time over at Papertrey Ink. They are celebrating 8 years in the business with lots of challenges and give aways. This challenge can be found here. The challenge was to build a bouquet using two or more floral sets. I've got two floral sets here: Birds and Blooms and Mini Blooms. I used New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Berry Sorbet, and Select White. Everything else is pretty self explanatory. Have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by.

Its been awhile. I've been knee deep in 7th grade curriculum and grading. Haven't touched an ink pad for most of the school year. However, Christmas break has given me some relax time which has been great! Yay for a little free time!

I give you a card! I used Stitches and Swirls from PTI. I colored it with my copics. While coloring I realized many of my pens are dry so of course I needed to place a large refill order. Getting those pens filled back up soon! Colors here are Lime Ice and Berry Sorbet (PTI). I've got stickles on the flowers which is showing up a bit weird in the picture. Thanks for taking the time to stop in!IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-27415770823840796592014-11-11T19:23:00.000-08:002014-11-11T19:23:05.954-08:00NoelHello Friends! Greetings from me, she who has been absent due to a crushing workload, to you!

I have finally made something! I am still in shock over that. I know its not much but when you haven't had any time to do anything, even the smallest, simplest cards seem like an accomplishment. This card is all PTI. The stamps are from the newly released Tinsel and Tags kit. I have to say the stamp design is genius and I hope I get a chance to ink them again. Hopefully before Christmas! Thanks for stopping by!IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-44381362336370773102014-08-24T16:15:00.000-07:002014-08-24T16:15:05.440-07:00Daffodil Thank You

Greetings friends! Today I have a copic colored card for you. Its been awhile since I last had my pens out! Heck the crafty supplies haven't seen much use at all lately! So much going on in my life! Let me get the card deets out of the way and then I will catch you up. First off, this card uses two PTI sets: Year of the Flowers, Daffodil and Background Basics, Tin Type. I stamped both in dark chocolate ink. The base of the flower in white and the base of the card is fine linen. I cut the flower out using the coordinating die. I colored it with Y13,Y15,Y17, and Y18. The stem/leaves are colored with YG23 and YG25. The sentiment is from Thanks All Ways (I think...). The washi tape is from WRMemories and the sequins are doodlebug.
RANDOMNESS: So I've been busy starting a new teaching job at a new school. I've changed both grades and subjects. I am now teaching 7th grade ELA/History and an elective focused on merging technology and science and writing. I am super excited but wow, so much work! Anyway the workload will definitely be keeping me busy especially when school starts on the 2nd.

Leaving my old school was really hard (but a good decision I think!). I was there 17 years! Craziness. My principal retired last year and I decided it was time for a change. Speaking of that, when she retired I drew her this picture of the front of the school and colored it with my copics. Its 8.5x11 inches. I framed it for her. She loved it!

I really enjoyed doing it. Sometimes we get so busy we totally forget to do the things we love. I love to draw. Thanks for stopping in today!

Hello friends! Today I have a CAS card I made with stamps from Lil' Inkers. First I cut the seriously with their new die. I love this die. LOVE it! Easy to use and so versatile. Next I stamped the sentiment using Memento black. I added strips of patterned paper (Echo Park), some more Lil' Inkers stamps, and some stickles. Quick and fun. Thanks for stopping in!

Hello friends! Today I have another Thank you card for you. I used PTI's sunflower set and a sentiment from Inside and Out: Thank You. I stamped the sunflowers in multiple sizes and colors. Next I added some greenery. Finally I added two different colors of stickles in the middles of the flowers and stamped the sentiment. Quick and easy, except for the stickle drying time.IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28066208.post-32003257568469683112014-07-19T06:40:00.001-07:002014-07-19T06:40:33.976-07:00Little Bitty Bird Thanks

Hello friends. I have a little bitty bird thank you card today. One layer, three colors. Simple and easy. I needed a ton of thank yous after we had a small house warming party. My friends are so sweet and brought me fun little gifts. I went to my stash for thank yous but all I found were birthday. Isn't that how it always is? You never have what you need! Anyway time was of importance so I whipped up a few of these guys. I love bitty bird! Hello friends! Well we are all moved in. The craft room has been set up and things are getting back to normal. I've made a few things but most of them have been in the envelope and out the door before I could even think about a picture. However, I do have something for you today. The thank you card uses all PTI- Framed Out and Butterfly stamps and die. Canyon clay, summer sunrise, and hawaiian shores ink. Thanks for stopping in and I hope I will be back to regular posting soon.IamDerbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12105424483708789633noreply@blogger.com2
